Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!

Hey…Toto….we’re not in Kansas anymore.
We’re in Oklahoma…where the wind comes sweeping down the plains…right here in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Director Tim Thompson is happy to bring you a bit of that wind as the show opens Thursday night at the Tinnin Center on the campus of Three Rivers College.
This show is a musical with a capital “M”.
“Three Rivers has done musicals in the past. We’ve done children’s musicals ad Godspell, but this musical is in a whole different league,” laughed Thompson.
This time, Three Rivers has pulled out all the stops and is featuring both its music department and theatre department in this production. So it is one of the biggest productions with which Thompson has ever been involved.
Has it been easy? Heck, no.
Thompson notes that half of his cast came from the Swingsations Choir Class, and the rest from the community and Three Rivers faculty and staff.
“It has been a huge challenge just to get the cast all together at the same time,” said Thompson. He says that is difficult for him because it requires being able to mentally put together all the pieces of the production.
“This has really stretched my production comfort zone,” he smiled. “It’s been like putting together a puzzle.”
And that was without the additional problems of weather…and oh, yeah…Thompson having to have a surgery done in the middle of it all.
But, as always, Thompson has put together a fantastic production.
So…come see Thompson once again skillfully put together all those elements….a very large cast…an orchestra…a legendary script and music…and watch him weave it all into Theatre Magic.
Show times are April 16-18, 7 p.m., and April 19, 2 p.m. All tickets are $10.
